Mari McCullough,
Director of Lay Mobilization and Small Group Development

Back in June of 2004 I began as the Director of Lay Mobilization and Small
Group Development at First UMC Fargo. It was a newly developed position
on the church's journey to be lay-driven and team based. My job is getting
people involved, connecting them to a place to be in ministry. God prepares
everyone for ministry. The church helps with faith development, support
and equipping to answer their call to ministry, both in the church and in
the world.
God prepared me for this work in many ways over the years. My work experience
includes working in a church office as office manager/volunteer coordinator,
volunteer coordinator at The Children's Museum as well as many volunteer
positions in the public schools and community. My faith experience includes
many years of Bible study starting in 1983 in college with very faithful
roommates and continuing through my church affiliations in Denver, CO; Alameda,
CA; here at First UMC Fargo and at the Presentation Prayer Center. My church
experience is varied and includes: teaching Sunday School preschool through
adult classes, leading youth groups, developing and implementing a contemporary
worship service, serving as chairperson of the worship commission, beginning
the Stephen Ministry program and training Stephen Ministers and other experiences
in service to others.
I enjoy my work and feel blessed to be able to answer my call to ministry
at First United Methodist Church.
All to God's Glory,
Mari
