Garilyn McColm, Parish Nurse

Garilyn McColm

I graduated from St Luke’s School of Nursing in Fargo in 1969 and began my nursing career. Presently I work at Merit Care as a nurse on a 48 bed surgical unit. I have worked as the Parish Nurse at First Church since 2000. I am responsible for visiting ill parishioners in the hospital and home, and meet as part of the Care Staff. I coordinate the well baby ministry, the bereavement ministry and blood drives here at church. I provide parishioner medical education and also monitor blood pressures.

I enjoy the outdoors with activities like fishing, golf, camping, snow skiing and also watching sports. I love to sing and participate in the Sanctuary Choir, but the most important thing to me is my family. I have one son, two daughters, and seven grandchildren that add so much joy to my life.
