Quotes from Members and Friends

" My involvement with First Church, which has spanned the last four decades, has given me a great deal of insight into what is required of those who choose to become a Disciple of Jesus Christ. I have come to discover that what I give away, I get back a hundred fold, what I share with those in need is mulltiplied to meet many needs, and when I am in need of strength, there is someone to comfort and pray for me. I have also discoverd that as a part of the Body of Christ, I am called to be faithful to Christ and His commission to "Go, make disciples of all..", to remain faithful to Jesus' promise to "never leave you or forsake you" and to plant seeds to those who will come after me. I've also learned that God uses very ordinary people to do some extraordinary things! There was a short period of time when my family attended another church in the area. When the decision was made to return to First Church , our pastor welcomed us back in front of the congregation, and while shaking my hand whispered in my ear "Welcome HOME" ! I knew exactly what he meant! First Church is not something I DO, it is something I EXPERIENCE!"

"Fargo First has richly blessed my life for seven years. My children have participated in its varied youth and Sunday school offerings. I have witnessed firsthand the power of its mission outreach in its downtown, the Fargo community, and half-way around the world in Lithuania. Sermons--from laity and its current pastors --are vibrant and challenging. Its music is diverse and excellent--whether it is toe-tapping bluegrass or a mass forty-voice choir. My soul has been moved many times by First Church's music.

But I think what I have been touched by recently is the simple power of the care ministry of First Church--the incredible goodness behind the cadre of saints involved in Stephen Ministry, the Parish Nurse Ministry, the neighborhood clusters and the ministry involved in taking a covered dish to a new mother or a grieving family. Those are the things that make for ministry in a hurting world. Those are the acts which represent Christ."
